A story that starts long before
the awards.
Joel Benesha was born in Congo-Kinshasa — one of the poorest countries in the world — during a devastating civil war. Growing up in that environment taught him the meaning of resilience before he had words for it.
His family eventually fled as refugees to Cameroon, then rebuilt their way to Australia. Joel set his sights on becoming an engineer. He woke at 4am every morning to study. He was burning with ambition.
And then everything collapsed — failed exams, failed relationships, failed employment. Depression. Suicidal thoughts. He hit rock bottom. That breaking point became the most important moment of his life — it forced him off the path he was performing, and onto the one he was meant to walk.
What followed was not an overnight transformation. It was years of deliberate rebuilding — engineering, research, NLP, coaching, robotics, entrepreneurship — and the slow, honest accumulation of a framework that actually worked.
"After failing year 12, I experienced immense frustration, despair, and depression — pushing me to consider ending my life. This low point became a catalyst. I embarked on a transformative journey of self-discovery and along the way I discovered a formula that brought me back to life."
